First chapter: our female protagonist is immune to pain, doesn't need to eat, can run for hours, is superb at combat, and her blood is poisonous. Wow. What is she, a freaking mutant? Is the book going to tell us?
Having said that, this book did pick up in the next few chapters, whilst falling foul of every high school cliche. I didn't realise until later that the author of this book also wrote Trial By Fire, which I could not finish for the life of me because it was written very badly.
And the heroine here is very similar in personality. I'm starting to wonder if the author knows how to write any other protagonist. I am glad for other female characters, however.
Thankfully this is not as bad as Trial By Fire. At least, not yet. Gonna keep reading.
